Jessie Bonne's Insider Guide to Miami

Miami-based Jessie Bonne whose architectural work for her fine jewelery brand, Kult evokes the beauty of structures and artworks from the places she’s called home, and her guide to her city is as versatile, art-minded and exciting as her unique pieces.

While Jessie currently lives in Miami, her point of view of her current city of residence and all its vibrant offerings speaks to the lasting imprint of Martinique, where she was born and raised, as well as her time residing in Paris and Mexico city. From galleries to glimpses only a seasoned collector and designer could offer, this is a local's list of favorites.

Museums and Galleries

MOCA
770 NE 125th St, North Miami, FL 33161
Put the PAMM, ICA, and Rubell Museum on your list and add the MOCA. This lesser-known museum offers some of the most thought-provoking programming in town.

El Espacio 23
2270 NW 23rd St., Miami, Florida, 33142
Another under-the-radar art space. Part of Jorge Pérez’s private collection is showcased in a repurposed warehouse in Allapattah, featuring thoughtfully curated, intimate exhibitions. Is there any better way to appreciate art than free from the crowd?

With their signature azulejos and hammered glass mosaics, these former Bacardi headquarters are true Miami landmarks. A must-see for architecture enthusiasts.

The Historic Hampton House
4240 NW 27th Ave, Miami, FL 33142
Martin Luther King and Mohamed Ali stayed at this iconic Green Book hotel that will give you the thrills. It is a must-visit to truly grasp the cultural and social history of Miami and the United States. The mid-modern century architecture is a plus.

The Fairchild Garden
Old Cutler Rd, Coral Gables, FL 33156
Luxurious and magnificent, this tropical oasis gives a true taste of South Florida's natural richness. I like revisiting it from time to time to connect with Miami´s nature beyond the beach.

Collins Avenue and Meridian Avenue, South Beach
One can never tire of the Art Deco architecture of Miami Beach. The city boasts an unparalleled collection of Art Deco gems. I love walking or biking through these streets and go back in time.

Dining

Sunny's
7357 NW Miami Ct, Miami, FL 33150
Miami has been waiting for Sunny’s pop-up to settle into a permanent location—and it was well worth the wait. Everything is on point. I´m a big fan of their champagne and fries happy hour: deliciously decadent.

Mandolin Aegean Bistro
4312 NE 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33137
It’s a classic for a reason. A charming patio, excellent food, and a beautifully curated wine list make it a staple on any Miami guide.

The Champagne Bar at the Surf Club
9011 Collins Ave, Surfside, FL 33154
The quintessence of chic. Designed by Joseph Dirand in the historic Surf Club building, it’s the perfect place to experience a touch of old Miami glamour.

Café La Trova

Step into the spirit of La Habana and savor some of the best cocktails in town, all while surrendering to the rhythm of live salsa. A perfect Miami night.

True Loaf
1894 Bay Road, Miami Beach
The best bakery in town—and as a French, I know a thing or two about good pastries. I worship their almond croissant, but honestly, everything they make is worth the calories.
